Akala Mo

5 03 2009

Akala ko puwede na
Pero malabo ka na naman
Hindi mo ba naiintindihan
Ang mga ikinikilos ko?
Hindi ka ba nag-iisip?
O baka bingi ka lang?

Akala mo ba limot ko na?
Akala mo ba hindi masaya
Ang mga naiisip ko
Kapag naaalala kita?
Hindi mo lang nakikita
Ang ngiti sa ‘king mga mata

Akala mo kasi naglalaro lang ako
Akala mo kasi wala lang ito
Pero kapag inisip mo
Maintindihan mo sana
Pero iniisip mo kaya ako
Katulad ng pag-iisip ko sa ‘yo?

Alam mo bang sobra ang saya
Kapag nakikita kita?
Alam mo bang araw-araw
Nangangarap ako na sana
Tayo na lang dalawa?
Alam mo ba?

Akala mo wala akong pakiramdam
Akala mo wala akong inaasam
Akala mo wala akong hinihintay
Kung akala mo tapos na ‘to
Kung akala mo wala ka sa puso ko
Maling-mali ang mga akala mo…

-—————————–

This is my second attempt at writing Tagalog poetry. I admit I’m not as good at writing in Tagalog as I am in English. The former is my first language, and I am really, really fluent in conversational Tagalog, but I just suck at writing in the vernacular. That being said, I still feel that this poem wouldn’t be as good (okay, let’s use the term meaningful instead!) if it were written in English. And let me quote the great Bryan Adams by pointing out that it’s coming straight from the heart‘! I know how cheesy that sounds, though! ;)

The Game

3 03 2009

You didn’t say go
When I asked if yes meant yes
Or if no read no

So I stopped at the door
Looked up at your face
And then sighed at the floor

At the floor I did stare
Willing you to pick me up
Disbelieving you would dare

Until you began to dance
Turning my rhythm upside down
Asking me to grab the chance

To either kiss you goodbye
Or embrace you goodnight
Since goodbye was a lie

Because you and I know
That it will always be yes
And neither will say no

You and I will stay the same
Through the music changing pace
You and I will play the game

Spin me round, remain the same
As our fingers find their way
Let’s forever play this game
