Like I told you I was planning to do (in Cam Sur, here I come!), I went to the Camarines Sur Watersports Complex last weekend, with other people who were either just curious about wakeboarding or who were already wakeboarding enthusiasts. I, myself, am both  a rookie and an enthusiast. The first time I saw a wakeboard, I said to it: “I will conquer you someday!” Well, I haven’t quite conquered it yet. I know that if I persevere, though, I’ll reach that goal soon. I just have to keep going to Cam Sur or Calatagan so I can practice. I also want to visit The Boardinghouse in Talisay, Batangas (near Tagaytay). I’ve read that the facility rents out speedboats and wakeboarding equipment so that one can wakeboard on Taal Lake. I’ve only tried wakeboarding using a cable system; I’ve never tried it behind a speedboat. The pros say it’s actually easier to wakeboard with a speedboat towing the wakeboarder because it’s the speedboat that will adjust to his wakeboarding speed and style, not the other way around. With a cable system, it’s the person who has to adjust his speed and style.

When I went to Lago de Oro, I only got to kneeboard and could never really maneuver the sharp turns. But in Cam Sur, not only did I get to finally nail the turns, I was actually able to cross the lake with my feet, NOT my knees, on the board! Now I can say that I really wakeboarded, not just kneeboarded! :D

Unfortunately, my shots are all of me IN the lake, not on it. :( I think there’s only one shot of me on the board. My triumph has not been documented! Hmp. But no worries, I know there will be more wakeboarding weekends for me. I can’t even wait to get back on the board, sore muscles and all.

Aside from wakeboarding, we also  tried swingboarding, with Tikoy of Travel Factor and Trish as our coaches.

I went to Cam Sur with a bunch of strangers, and now I have a whole new set of friends. :) My travel buddies were a cool bunch of people, adventurous, most of them within my age range, and quite easy to get along with. It was a breeze for me to bond with them. We’re even planning to go on other trips together!

This is a photo blog, created to promote Puerto Galera, which was where I spent part of Holy Week. If I had to describe in one word this popular tourist spot in Mindoro Oriental, the word would be breathtaking. It truly is!

A tip: In Puerto Galera, it is best to stay in Sabang Beach, visit different places other than the beaches, go to Talipanan Beach to swim and/or sunbathe, then head to White Beach to party.

Next stop: Mt. Pinatubo and then Sagada

My Red Bikini

6 04 2009

I just bought a red bikini online. It’s so flirtatious and feminine, and I know that the color will flatter my skin tone.

The red bikini, my newest acquisition

The red bikini, my newest acquisition

I don’t know what has come over me, but I am loving summer. I usually don’t like the beach or swimming in the summer heat because I don’t want to tan, but I have lined up trips for this season. Where there is water, there are bikinis. Right now, I’m adding to my collection.

I always have a hard time finding a bikini that’s right for my body. Most bikini bottoms fit me well, but bikini tops are a different story altogether. A bikini top has to have the right shape and the right support, or else my nipples will probably stage a performance of their own while I’m on the beach or by the pool. That’s why when it comes to finding the perfect bikini top, I envy flat-chested women.  I think that’s one of the few advantages they have over women with ample breasts. They never find it difficult to shop for swimwear. Case in point: My friends and I were shopping last week for bikinis for our next trip, and the yellow bikini that I oh-so-wanted ended up being bought by my girlfriend. I tried to make the top fit me, but my boobs were battling with the fabric. They were like prisoners, seemingly yelling “Let us out! Let us out!” If I had bought the 2-piece suit, I’m pretty certain I’d end up embarrassing myself and my friends on the beach, for my boobs would surely pop out. Talk about being a showstopper!

Since this week is Holy Week, my newest acquisition will probably not get here in time for Galera. I’ll just wear it on my Bicol/Donsol excursion, which I’m very excited about. I’ll get to swim with whalesharks then!

If you’re curious about whalesharks, which are our native butandings, just Google the term. They’re an endangered species, they come out in groups from April to June, and they are some of the Philippines’ pride. They can be found in Donsol, Sorsogon.

What Happens in Cabu

1 04 2009

…Is supposed to stay in Cabu. But I have chosen to post some “evidence” of what happened in Cabu here on The Beat

Summer is off to a great start! I’m on vacation until April 13. My first summer activity was a trip last weekend to The Farm in Cabu, with 2 other nurses and some resident doctors of Radiology. As usual, because we nurses are camwhores, we spent most of the trip taking pictures of ourselves. Of course, we took some shots of the doctors, too. (I have  to admit that we spent most of the time taking pictures of ourselves alone, though. The residents just served as ornaments. )

And of course, where there’s a pool, there are bikini shots. I’m posting some of our pictures here. After all, your writer is vain, oh vain, oh vain!
